I now live in the beautiful Province of Valencia having moved here from the United Kingdom a few years ago.
My husband and I decided to try to escape our hectic lifestyles we enjoyed (should that read endured!) in England, and change it for this more tranquil, scenic, relaxing and very friendly part of Spain.
Although I have been an artist for many years, much of the time, when in England, I was unable to take commissions because of my other work commitments, family life and the pressures of everyday life that we all experience. This normally left me too exhausted and with far too little time, or enthusiasm, to enjoy the love of my life painting.
When I arrived in Spain I found the lifestyle to be totally different and suddenly found my enthusiasm for painting had returned, and returned at an even stronger and more enthusiastic level than ever before. Suddenly I found that I not only had the renewed enthusiasm again, but I also and importantly, that I had the time to sit down and paint. Couple this with the tranquility I find, in this part of Valencia, the warm climate we enjoy here and I have really started to enjoy painting again. My only regret is that I should have done this years ago - so many wasted, and frustrated years.
I re-commenced by painting landscapes, which can be quite breathtaking here with the mountain ranges, the quaint pueblos (villages), the typical rustic Spanish way of life. A friend of mine suggested that he felt a lot of people wanted their pets painted and I was eventually persuaded to paint two pet portraits of my friend's dogs Callie and Oscar
It usually takes me about 20 to 30 hours to do a single painting, depending upon the complexity, and therefore I am obliged to limit the number of commissions I can take on at any one time.
Please be patient if I cannot produce instant results for you, but upon requesting a pet portrait from me, I shall email you to give an idea of when it should be completed. If you are looking to give a pet portrait as, for example, a Christmas, birthday, anniversary or wedding present, then please ensure that you not only advise me of any critical date, but also give me plenty of time to schedule your pet portrait - a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks is normally required.
