Hi
My name is Linda Holowczyk and I am an artist who specialises in sketching beloved pets in pastels. Many of my Clients feel that my paintings, undertaken in pastels, really helps to bring out the true character of their pet.
Painting pets and animals came about purely by accident, as often good ideas do. At that time I specialised in painting landscapes, which I still love to do, and indeed have many which have been exhibited. About two years ago, two friends of mine asked me to sketch two of their dogs - their German Shepherd called Callie and an adopted dog called Oscar.
This was my formal introduction into painting pet portraits. They were both absolutely delighted with the sketches that I had produced from their photographs. They immediately asked me to immortalise their remaining pet dogs.
Subsequent to this, several friends of theirs and some of mine came flocking to me, asking me to undertake pet portraits of their pets. I have hardly stopped sketching since my paintings of Callie and Oscar.
Thank you both - from the bottom of my heart.
Sadly in October 2006, Callie departed our world, but her owner often tells me how wonderful it is to be able to see her sketch everyday - it brings back such happy memories of a wonderful dog and loyal companion that he had enjoyed for over thirteen years.
All us pet owners will someday lose our beloved pet(s) and, given the chance, my interpretation of their being, whilst still with you, will hopefully help you to retain those oh so precious and treasured memories, as you gaze deep into their pet portrait.
As a true animal lover I feel a true empathy with all my subjects, and have become passionate about capturing that "special character", that all our individual pets possess, when painting pet portraits for my Clientele.
Please feel free to visit my Portrait Gallery where you will be able to see the paintings I have finished alongside the photograph(s) submitted to me to paint their pet portrait.
